Summary of 2008

Another year of some very big high's, and only a few low's......The high's in the showring started off at the prestigious reinstated Joint Clubs Championship Show, held in February at Bingley Hall in Stafford, where an entry of almost 230 dogs and bitch's was topped by Oliver, taking Best in Show, and his half sister, Della took Best Puppy in Show, it was a marvellous day,one we won't forget in a hurry. His next CC was another club show, Northern Ireland where again he repeated his previous Best In Show win. Crufts is always the highlight of the calender ,and Magic took Best of Breed for the 3rd consecutive year, and was again shortlisted in the group ring.

We took her to Sweden to be mated to a lovely dog from the Jillocs Kennel in late January, but unfortunately she never conceived on that occasion, which was such a gut wrenching moment, considering how much time, effort and money i had ploughed into the whole episode. These things happen when breeding dogs, perhaps it was for a reason, so she remained in the ring up until September until her next season when she was mated this time to our own young, fabulous champion dog-Our Oliver!! This has proved to be successful and on the 29th of November she produced us 5 black spotted bitch pups and one liver spotted dog puppy.Every day is a school day and it has been another learning curve, which i have enjoyed, and they have been my best ever litter yet-so far!

Summer time saw Jonathan venture out with his new Miniature Schnauzer puppy, Suzy, who qualified easily for Cruft's 2009.She enjoyed the few shows she attended, but has had the last part of the year off,to give her coat time to develop, she is a joy to have around. Mid summer saw a very sucessful run for Magic, taking the Utility group twice in the space of a week and beating the top winning dog all breeds for 08, the white standard poodleCh/Am Ch. Afterglow the Big Tease.

For the 4th consecutive year now she has ended up the top dalmatian in the breed, and believe me when i tell you that we do not take this accolade for granted. It is VERY much appreciated, each and every single honor that has been awarded to both of our dogs.

My best personal highlight was sitting at home, with Jonathan, witnessing Magic and Oliver's puppies being born.Watching her, incredulous, as she became a mum, and seeing the delight in Jonathan's face, seeing something truly as special as this, a  wonderful moment that we have waited so long for, together. It was brilliant, and i will never forget it as long as i live.

We have two wonderful bitch puppies,Voulez Vous and Velvet Glove that we have decided to keep!! As It was never my plan to keep 2 puppies, Velvet Glove(Ruby) has gone to live with my family in co ownership,so we shall see how they both develop. We might mate Magic late 2009 early 2010 for another litter to a different dog,but with 2 daughters from this litter we may decide not to bother.

Whatever happens i am sure we will have lots to keep us busy, and we will have lots of fun,at home and at the shows in 2009.May i take this opportunity to wish my friends, all the very best of luck in the ring this year, i hope we all do well !!
