Summary of 2009
Summary of 2009
Well the year started off with a house full of puppies, it was great having them,i will definately be breeding a lot more in future,i'd forgotten how much i love it. All puppies went to fantastic homes, with 4 of them making it into the show ring. Everyone is very happy with them and they are turning out to be very nice adult dogs.
February saw the start of the showing year for us,and at Magic's first outing she crash landed right in at the number one spot, again, taking Best in Show at the Joint Club Show, then next on to Crufts with Best of Breed and a Group 2 placing. In all she took 10cc's,all with Best of Breed,3 times Best in Show at Breed Club Shows,3 Group 1 placings,2 group 2 placings,a Reserve Best in Show, and a Best in Show at General Champ Shows. She became the biggest winning Dalmatian in UK history and for the 1st time she was top of the Utility Group.
Oliver was hardly shown this year, but he still managed to win one CC with Best of Breed at British Utility Breeds in December. He will be shown a lot more from now on as Magic has been effectively retired, but she will still make appearances at Crufts and maybe the odd breed club show. Oliver also sired 2 litters of puppies, one in the UK and the other by A.I. in Australia which was quite exciting. He finished the year off as Top Sire in the breed.Puppies from both these litters will be making their way into the show ring in 2010.Good luck to them all.
Little Frida too has made her mark on the show ring, scoring a Reserve CC at her first show. She has been limited to only a handful of shows in 2009, but all the same managed to finish up as the biggest winning puppy in the breed. She accomplished 6 Best Puppy in Breed awards, one of them was Best Puppy in Show at a breed club show, where her mother took Best in Show, and a group 2 placing in the puppy group.
We do realize we have had an awful lot of success over the last few years, and 2009 was perhaps the best year ever, well maybe on a par with 2007,it's hard to call. We are so lucky that so many judges have recognised the qualities of our 3 show dogs.We never take the wins for granted,i would like to thank you all,it gives me such a buzz to have them so highly thought of,it's a great feeling.
Looking forward to 2010 we will mate Magic when she next comes in season, which should be Feb/March time,we haven't made a final decision yet as to which dog will be her next husband,it may be Oliver again,as we were so pleased with the first litter. As far as the show ring is concerned, i have decided to scale back a bit next year, i just cannot do the long drives the i used to, i live too far North for it to be sensible to drive to places like Bournemouth or Paignton, also as i'm sure everyone will agree, the cost's are just phenominal to show dogs in this depressed economic climate, when money is tight you have to draw your belt in! That said we will still make the trips to the shows where we feel the judges know the breed and can give a fair assessment, but are within a sensible driving distance. Good luck to all of my friends in the breed, hopefully we will all share the success to come for next year.
